Just a note for conversation, regarding Mark IV's comment at playtest game on the relative damage of 7.62 and .308 Win.
I wanted to double check my source material before I got back to you, Mark IV, but I recalled that I *did* have a basis for giving .308 Win a slightly higher damage output than 7.62 (in Factions materials, DL of .308 is 17, for 5d10+2 + 3d10, while 7.62 DL is 15, for 5d10+1 + 2d10+1).
Here's my basis:
I presume the .308 is using 168 grain (or better). It moves 810 m/s.
7.62 shows standard of 146.6 grain, moving 840 m/s.
Now, maybe I'm over simplifying (I will defer to Phaedrus' physics skills), but I just multiplied the gain by the speed to get a rough handle of how hard these guns are hitting. And, well, .308 looks like a bigger punch, at least by these measures.
